The Fidbox provides you with reliable information about the environmental conditions of your hardwood flooring. The Fidbox sensor is installed within the flooring itself and records temperature and humidity fluctuations in the floor construction and the subfloor. The saved data can be read wirelessly through Bluetooth using the Fidbox app or on your computer at a later date without having to remove any of the flooring itself.
The Fidbox is an extremely important element of any expensive floor installed over underfloor heating because one cannot rely on underfloor heating (UFH) systems to provide evidence of a flooring fault in a case where there might be a warranty claim.
HOW EASY IS IT TO INSTALL?
The Fidbox comes with its own peel off adhesive on one side and is around the size of a mobile phone. Your installer will use a router tool to create a cavity before installing the board into the floor.
For best effect, we recommend installing one sensor per heat area for water, and in each room for other UFH.
WHY CAN’T I RELY ON THE UFH READINGS?
It should be noted that although your water based, screeded underfloor heating system may well have a sensor, it will usually measure the heat of the heating elements within the screed and not the thermodynamic effects upon the floor. These heating elements are higher than the intended output concerning the floor because heat dissipates into the concrete, so the reading is unlikely to be fully accurate.
